LCA San Diego: Getting Active for the Animals!
Since we formed the San Diego chapter of Last Chance for Animals in 1993, our main activity as a non-profit, all-volunteer animal rights organization has been to bring our info booth to street fairs and other events around the county. We give away lots of free literature and CDs about veganism and other animal rights issues, and we show Meet your Meat on our portable TV. We have been able to educate a lot of people over the years, thanks to the dedication of many volunteers! It would be GREAT if you can help.

Sunday, August 10 Hillcrest CityFest
We will give away Vegetarian Starter Kits and other free literature and answer people's questions about eating vegan and other animal rights issues. You don't need to be an expert! It's relatively easy and fun, and we reach a lot of people. Over the past 15 years, we've gotten lots of positive feedback from people who took our literature and went veg! RUMMAGE SALE FUNDRAISER!!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2008
8:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
LOCATION: MOONLIGHT BEACH, ENCINITAS. I-5 to Encinitas Blvd. Go West on Encinitas Blvd. and cross over Coast Hwy 101. Turn left on 3rd St. and a quick Right on C St. Turn Right into the big parking lot. (We'll set up in the parking lot, along 3rd. St.)
PLEASE DONATE ITEMS (clean, non-hazardous materials) AND/OR VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT THE SALE!
TO DONATE ITEMS: Before the sale, email joy@allveganshopping.com, or call Joy at 760-943-7428 for drop-off locations.
Better yet, deliver items (PRICED) yourself from 7:00-8:00 A.M. Saturday, 9/13.
PRICING ITEMS: Items must be priced LOW to sell. Clothes don't need to be priced as they will be sold for $0.75 unless they are really nice (and are marked higher). You do not need to price books or CDs either. We suggest using masking tape or labels to price items – and stapling them on clothes.
TO VOLUNTEER: Email Joy@AllVeganShopping.com or call Joy at 760-943-7428. We especially need volunteers with trucks or vans to help transport items to the sale that morning.
Volunteer shifts:
1) 6:30 - 8:00 AM
EARLY MORNING TRANSPORT OF ITEMS TO THE SALE (IN YOUR VEHICLE)
2) 7 AM - 12 NOON
3) 12 NOON - 5 PM
(includes time to help pack up the leftovers and take them away)
4) 3:00 - 5:00 PM
LATE AFTERNOON TRANSPORT (IN YOUR VEHICLE)
Please help out by donating items and/or volunteering at the rummage sale! This is LCA San Diego's only major fundraiser... we need to replenish our bank account so that we can continue to purchase literature and other supplies, booth space at street fairs, and bring special speakers to town. Profits will be split with the Spay Neuter Action Project (SNAP), which brings their Neuter Scooter busses to low-income neighborhoods in San Diego and provides free and low-cost spay/neuter services and education.
Please ask your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers for donations!
